The Phobia Of Water – Eliminate Your Child’s Fear With Hypnotherapy
A small child can drown in just two feet of water. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has reported that from 2004 to 2006, 47 children died after becoming submerged in inflatable pools. A small child leaning over the soft side of such a pool can easily fall in headfirst and be unable to stand up quickly enough.
Even if drowning were not an issue, swimming is an activity that exercises the entire body and can be pursued throughout life. Huge numbers of children are unable to swim, which largely explains why drowning is the second leading cause of death among children ages 1 to 19. Young children who are comfortable in water are likely to be easier to teach to swim when they are ready to learn formal strokes.
According to the USA Swimming Foundation, about 70 percent of African-American children, 60 percent of Latino children and 40 percent of white children are non-swimmers. Fear, cultural factors and even cosmetic issues play a major role.
A year 2 teacher I know who takes her class to the local pool for swimming lessons said one mother refused to give permission for her son to go “because he’s afraid of the water.” The teacher rightly responded that was all the more reason the boy should join his class at the pool.
If your child has a fear of water or a fear of swimming then I can easily help with hypnotherapy.
